Vain, the First Avenue hair salon (and Seattle institution) is hosting the group show “City Life”, a collection of Polaroid pictures by photographers from Seattle, Portland, and New York. I’m in it, but with cooler people.
About a year ago, Stewart left Seattle for NYC. Since that time, he’s been scribbling and taking photos while learning to live in a very different city. His pictures are blurry slices of life, askew glances, and as often, quite mundane.
… people live in these constructions but have been called away to some other pressing thing, a phone ringing, another unfinished chore. They’re languid in a way that suburbs are, but in their roughness, hurried, like life most often is.
