Reconsidering Rhododendrons

5 May ’20

Our yard has one rhododendron in it— a tidy knee-high clump of ‘williamsii’ that is perhaps buried too much in the shade. I like its form and leaves better than its short gaudy blooms.

Last week I was at Wells-Medina, thinking about changes to our garden that will happen with the remodel. The biggest question being how much do we embrace a shady woodland garden now that we are being surrounded by the ugly tall box homes.

This gigantic white rhody sure captured my attention on a walk today.
