Stairs to Golden Gardens

21 Feb ’14

By taking 48, the longest bus route in Seattle, one can surprisingly bus from our house, through the University, Ravenna and Greenlake, to the start of this hike in northern Ballard. In another strange Metro fact, we can visit almost all of our friends in Seattle along route 48, so after visiting so many neighborhoods where I couldn’t think of a single person we know living there, all of the sudden, we have a neighborhood where we know everyone.

There’s not much route-finding to this walk. Park at the top of some very long stairs, walk to the bottom (and the beach), walk around and look at things, and when you are done doing that, however long that might take you, turn around and climb up the stairs back to the car.

Golden Gardens is popular for a reason: it’s beautiful. Add in no need to pull out the guidebook, and you’ve got a perfect walk for catching up with friends.
