A Day in San Francisco

5 May ’14

Two nights solo in San Francisco after Point Reyes. One long walk from Sunset to the beach and a ride back on the N Judah. But mostly, I spend most of the time catching up on sleep and being alone, as being alone in a decent hotel can be one of life’s pleasures: negronis at the bar, flirting with strangers, Chex mix from the mini-bar while reading books and looking out at the city night, long hot showers with fresh towels over and over.

This is the second time I’ve stayed at the Omni downtown. It’s in the financial district, so pretty dang boring, but it’s close to Chinatown, North Beach, and the Ferry Terminal. The rooms are large, there are robes, a cocktail bar downstairs,  and it’s easy to be anonymous, and so in my book, everything you’d want out of a big hotel.
