I can’t remember what we were fighting about, but I can definitely remember that I spent most of the time at Teanaway two years ago feeling pretty bitter about something. So when I saw a few months ago that this little sweet cabin for two was available for New Year’s Eve, my mind raced to a romantic re-do.
When I think about this place in the winter, my big concern is just getting over the Pass in a rental car. However, when we left it was cold enough here in the city that the chicken and rabbit water was freezing solid during the day, the roads were very clear but also unusually cold. Very, very cold. Boston cold.
I thought that first night if we can’t get this little room above 60, I’d rather spend tomorrow night in a roadside hotel in Cle Elum and sit in a hot tub. I am not sure if we every really crossed 60 for any significant amount of time, but we toughed it out. This also meant I wore my coat most of the time that I wasn’t in my sleeping bag.
I’ll say this about the weekend: despite the cold, I got a chance to be nice in a place where once I wasn’t. That is always good.
Read how you can rent it and see pictures from the previous trip which has much deeper snow at this older post.
