Riding Bikes, Being Sad

1 Feb ’09

Owen

I think I feel sick today, but I am not sure.

At some point this summer, sitting in an office surrounded by gray cube walls, I developed a while-typing fascination for Owen, the band name for Mike Kinsella’s solo work. It’s mopey, self-absorbed, high on pathetic whine and pretty much the perfect for sitting with headphones, typing while thinking about something else you’d like to be doing.
In this video, someone rides their bike around, while the music and lyrics wistfully recall that time after college when I worked in a mall, spent what little money I had on art supplies and moped around. I love this guy.
