I Eat Meat

25 Apr ’09

This morning, I drove out to Ebey Island for a class on pig butchering.

I’m going to post a graphic “How To” and what I learned soon from this valuable class, but I thought before I did I’d get the cute pictures out of the way.

Most of us eat meat and never see what it looks like when it’s up, walking around, having a life. Most of the meat you buy at the store doesn’t have a life as good as Bruce’s pigs: it doesn’t get to roll in the mud and doesn’t get to snuggle in the hay. It may not even spend that much time with the sow or be weaned naturally.

This is what meat looks like and I think it’s important to remember.
