Camping with Wee Ones

Camp, Babies and Middle Fork

Car camping is not one of my favorite activities. Babies don’t go over for very long with me either. So what the heck was I doing out in the woods with both?

A trial run for our recently-with-child friends and some neophytes to camping, we had a one night outing eating great food, short walks and low fuss at the Middle Fork Campground outside of North Bend.

It’s your standard car camping with nice size spots, pit toilets, and a few loops for the youngsters to ride their bikes around. I’m mentioning it here not because I plan on going there again, but because it is a very short drive from Seattle: ideal for cars full of kids, the ability to ditch if camping goes poorly, and a quick night under the stars with all the gear you can cram in your car if it’s what the soul needs.

Reservations and information here: Middle Fork.
