Black Sun

30 Jan ’09

With the failure of Thursday’s photoshoot, I decided to take advantage of the thick fog to walk around Volunteer Park after spin class.

At 7:45, the park was already busy with dog walkers, joggers, men cruising, and the gardeners tending garbage pick up.

Isamu Noguchi’s sculpture sits on a shelf in front of the Asian Art Museum and is a popular meeting place and ledge to sun on in the summer. Aligned properly, it’s a favorite way for tourists to get a shot of the Space Needle.

Today it was brooding, though hardly alone as at least two other people were taking snaps of it with their cell phones.
