Portland for Soup Swap

14 Jan ’08

Portland, Oregon’s soup swap provided a great excuse to head down I-5 so soon after our last visit. It doesn’t hurt that we so enjoy staying at the Portland International Guesthouse.

The car loaded with skis we never used, we spent Saturday sleeping in instead and visiting Portland Nursery with one of the local swappers, who gave a glimpse into a bit of Portland we’d never have found on our own.

You can read about the Soup Swap on SoupSwap.com, and suffice to say, it was totally a fine evening…which we made even better by finally meeting Portland bicyclist and blogger, Scoutie and the boy!

Needing to go back to the Portland Nursery, where we got the majority of the seeds we’ll need for gardening this year as well as the stakes I’ve been all over Seattle looking for to prop up our falling lilac and then continued east.

The Columbia Gorge
is one of the country’s wonders as the river cuts through the Cascades. Vic’s first look at it was shallow, with just the stop at Multnomah Falls and Crown Point, but we hope to be back in the Spring for a longer trip and some hiking or biking.

Hey, when you do come back down, a lovely place for a ride is out toward the Gorge to where you two cuties had your picture taken: Crown Point. It’s beautiful, provided it isn’t too hot.

ANd it was great meeting you, too!
