“Strong-Arm Robbery” is police lingo for being mugged.
Monday, I was mugged. On my block! In the middle of the afternoon walking home from the dry cleaners by a pack of kids!
I’ve started reading the local blog, Central District News, to keep up-to-date on what’s going on. The proliferation of neighborhood blogs fills a more timely niche than the family-friendly water-downed weeklies published by Pacific Publishing. The Central District’s own neighborhood-published, Seattle Medium, while interesting enough, is focused on African-American community needs, local and distant, rather than the day-to-day life of our changing, gentrifying neighborhood.
Here’s a link to the police scanner for the day, not something I’d like to be on again. And while I’d like to say, I beat those punks asses, I can’t. I did, however, keep my wallet.
PS. I should have added that I am fine enough. I have had a headache and anxiety for the last couple days and a very strange shiner on my eye that looks a bit like David Bowie eyeliner. I am keeping my eyes out for these kids, whom I suspect, due to another recent mugging are making our couple blocks their turf. When I see them, they are so going to jail.
