About a year ago Stewart left Seattle for NYC. Since that time, he’s been scribbling and taking photos while learning to live in a very different city.
His pictures are blurry slices of life, askew glances, and as often, quite mundane. I offered him my previous camera, but he rejected it in favor for his low-fi from the waist kind of camera he’s working on. It’s easier to carry around and folks don’t notice it as much. I suppose it’s also just a comfort thing in the city: you’re not threatening them and they’re not asking you questions.
I’ve enjoyed the sets he calls “Minatures”, and was delighted to read tonight that someone else noticed the same thing I’ve noticed: his pictures on his plastic camera continue to get more compelling. Take a look.
