Road Trip: Leaving New England

15 Dec ’06

“Germantown?”
“Are you driving?”
“That’s not safe!”
“You don’t want to go to Germantown.”

Thus the two old ladies at the Philadelphia Freedom Center disagreed with the recommendation of the ranger at Independence Hall. Looking for a slice of Philly to overcome my initial malaise of the place, they sent us to South Street. It’s a pleasant walk through blocks of old federalist row houses to the busy, urban strip of pizza joints, hip hop shoes and hoodies, and even a coffee house or two.

If we’d left Philly without this walk, I’d have been depressed by the place.

Boston, Providence, New Haven, Tarrytown, Philly

But who’s in charge of the camera?

I am in charge of the camera. Thus far, the fights about it have been small due in no small part to my magnanimous behavior and willingness to cooperate.
