Packing yesterday as Vic walked in the door, he beamed as he handed me my first check for a bit of travel writing. If it wasn’t already spent, I’d say we’d have had a big celebration.
Not For Tourists is an actual pocket-size book that you can hide easily while you are hunting for that local bar, that is outside of your own neighborhood, but still within your city. Despite its size, it’s packed with tons of information becuase everything is in 6 point font. Sassy and opinionated, I’d consider one of these for cities I’m not too familiar with, and maybe as a reminder of cool things to do in my own city. I’d say the detailed maps and its durable portability are what make it stand out from all the other books.
So there you go, a Craigslist success story! Thanks to Pam for the lead. A real writing gig about my second home for take it to the bank pay.
And now, I leave once again for Seattle and the day job.

I’m glad to know about the accidental tourist books… I live in L.A. and my parents live in Seattle. I can imagine ways to use it in both places! I like your blog.
