Your First Tour: How-To Guide

7 Mar ’05

I believe anyone can bike tour. At its simplest, it is merely getting on a bike and going somewhere else. Our recent weekend bike tour to Newport was just as fine as any other two days I’ve had on my bike. Credit cards and supported tours: fine. Using your bike with combo bus/train/boat tours, yep it counts. Anything that gets folks out of their cars and looking about them at a slowed down pace is right on with me.

This PDF is a simple guide and pack list I put together for some inspire and educate lectures I’ll be doing at Boston’s REI later in the month. Please feel free to download it, photocopy it and pass it around.

I’ll be doing a breezy 60 minute clinic on the basics of touring at the Boston Bike Show. It’s at 5 PM on Saturday and at 4 PM on Sunday. The whole event looks like decent fun, so if you are town, stop by and say hi!
