Something You’d Never Hear In Seattle

16 Oct ’05

“Hey, caaant you two cross ta street? Ther ain’t no cahs commin.” And then dodging cars on Beacon, the odd fellow in a hurry pushed his borrowed shopping car towards the closed bank. I just kept standing there, waiting for the light to change.

I’ve lived in Boston for 5 1/2 years though I’m from Berkeley, CA and my sister lives in Seattle. I went to visit her about 3 months ago- and I couldn’t get over 2 things there: 1. People saying hello, for no apparent reason other than just being nice and 2. No one jay walks.

I have to say, I jaywalk if no one is coming– it gets really cold waiting on the corner in the snow…
