Product Queen Goes Cycling!

7 Jul ’05

Beauty equals weight

I honestly believe too much soap causes cancer. I do. Plenty of that stuff folks lather on themselves to look and smell nice is pure poison. Still, when it comes to bike touring, I am a product queen.

Camping is boring. Riding your bike all day is hard and damaging to your skin. So after I’ve set up the tent and rinsed the jersey, it’s time to fire up the MSR for some hot water and to pamper my face with organic, animal test-free goo.

I do this every single trip. New this year are three things: talc that smells like the ocean instead of babies to sprinkle on my loins and feet, Ben Gay (been there, done that…I’m getting old and it may be poison), and some outrageously expensive lip balm by Perricone, courtesy free samples from Vic.

My major concern is smelling too pretty and attracting bears (of either sort).
