If My Sneakers Were Like Lightening

28 Jun ’05

Good things can come from Texas. Lyle Lovett is a friend of Lance Armstrong and Robert Earl Keen, Jr. He has a smile that splits his face in two and has his own theme song.

What’s it take to get the big band (17 of them) on the road? Two buses? Three buses? Does Lyle manage the money and the paychecks like the band-leaders of yesteryear? These were the things I was thinking as Terry and I watched the show at the edge of Lake Union. It’s a funny thing to watch Lyle’s sorta-dance wiggle. I’d like it if he’d try his hand as a full western swing album. The band is certainly up to it. I always forget how much I love his music until I listen to it again. He is swell as he breaks your heart with some big Texas ache.

Well J,

You must have been there on the sunny Saturday instead. He did not do SBYM at our show. Actually, I can’t recall the encores to much. I think they did “Church” from Joshua Judges Ruth as the last number.

I was calling around to ask folks if they were going, so I am sorry not to think of you and Lyle in the same synapse. Now I will.
