Deirdre and Doug’s Vineyard Wedding

27 Sep ’05

“I do” is a good answer if someone asks you if you’d like another donut. It seems like a kooky way to answer the question, “Would you like to be eternally together?” But there you go, some people fall in love and get crazy.

I didn’t get weepy until after late into the liquored haze of the reception, where I stained the lovely gown of the bride with my tears. It was a sweet affair, this wedding. I like it so much when dear friends get married and when the family and friends are truly joyous and generous in their shared happiness. It was a pleasure to see old friends and meet some new ones. Great weddings are like that.

As I like to keep my blog focused on my cycling life, I’ll mention that Vic and I managed to get a decent, slow pedal across Martha’s Vineyard to the beach at Gay Head, despite my hangover. It was mainly flat and the community has done itself a huge favor by building bike paths. It was a pleasure cycling and seeing the many types of cyclists out enjoying a late summer day.

Congratulations to the Pyles, old and new.
