At the end of the month in Elbert, Colorado, my grandfather Lyle’s remains will be interned with his family. My mother asked me to put a book together for the small service. She sent me some sentimental poems that Albert had included in his own history of the family. Instead, I turned to the large amount of writing, photocopies, and tidbits that Lyle spent a good part of his time working on. Going through some of this stuff made me realize how little I knew my grandfather.
Here’s a pdf version of what was turned out to be a small, crude flip book with lots of ink washes and hand colored pages over the photocopies that Lyle used to send out.
